Bashir has a background in Urban and Regional Planning and is very interested in Youth Development. He participated in various projects prior to joining ACFOLA, and the one that stands out for him was back in Nigeria, where he raised the awareness around peer pressure and negative influence among Adolescents in High Schools. He is constantly engaging with youth to develop programs that would most impact them positively and help achieve outcomes that would set them up for success in both career and life paths. He currently volunteers with Immploy (a mentorship program for professional immigrants that are new to Canada) and the Big Brother Big Sister of London and Area as a Mentor, and he brings his experience to different conversations across the table. His portfolio involves developing sports activities and youth programs in the community. When Bashir is not working, he is either playing soccer or sweating it out at the Squash court.
Along with a committee of volunteers, the Youth and Sports Affairs Director collaborates and partners with other similar organizations to provide sports and youth programs for families.
